PILE FLYNN RESIDENCE
date: ?
city: ?, MN
architect: Gar Hargens, AIA
Deb Pile (Planner), Jack Flynn (Professor), and their poodles, lived off a cul-de-sac overlooking a marsh. Their site was beautiful but the existing house inadequate. Gar Hargens suggested a new “tower house” behind and connected to the current home. With three decks and a screen porch, the tower focuses living/entertainment spaces towards the wetland, keeping the existing house for studies and guest areas. Open floor plans and simplified trim are a few of the features that helped keep the project affordable. The exterior is durable metal siding with colors selected by the owners. With the siding and clad windows, the exterior should be maintenance free for many years. A third garage bay protects Deb's antique pickup truck.
